**Review** D.L Dunaway is such a phenomenal writer. She kept me completely interested with her beautiful writing style, and lush descriptions. I was literally transported by way of her words into the mountains and hills of West Virginia. I instantly became one with the scenery, sounds, and surroundings within the first few chapters. All of the characters seemed to jump from the pages and imprint their emotions and feelings directly onto your heart. I loved Ember Mae and Lorrie Beth's characters the most, my heart just went out to them both because of what they had to endure and contend with at such a young age. They had this overwhelming bond that went way beyond family ties and sisterly devotion and for me it really showed the lengths a person will go to when trying to protect the ones they love. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire story.This book had so many plot twists and turns that I couldn't help but try and figure out what was going on, and who the responsible party would be. The ending just blew my mind, I wasn't expecting the outcome that came to pass at all!! I would recommend to anyone who loves a great, heart-warming coming of age novel, mixed with lots of mystery and suspense. I really hope there will be a book 2 in the near future.This book just lingers on your mind long after you have finished.
